After Care Advice

After your reflexology session, it is recommended that you take it easy. Allow yourself time to reap the benefits from your treatment. When regular clients book in for a treatment, they often try to build in down time. They make fewer commitments. This way, they really look forward to their day!

Clients respond to reflexology in different ways. My aim is to put that skip back in your step for a more relaxed, healthier genki (元気) you. I hope to complement your own personal journey to improved wellbeing. Most clients will feel incredibly relaxed after a treatment, and some may feel really energised later in the day.

However, after your very first treatment it is usual to feel quite tired , so it is recommended you plan your day to ensure you aren’t too busy. Other side effects may be:

  • tiredness or lethargy
  • increased thirst
  • need to urinate
  • mild headache
  • heightened emotions
  • general aches
  • mild flu-like symptoms
  • irritability or restlessness

These side effects are a positive sign that your body’s own healing system is kicking in and they are usually mild and short term. Subsequent treatments should help you feel better. However, be mindful that reflexology does not work for everyone so do consider exploring other complementary therapies and seek advice from your GP.

To maximise the benefits of any reflexology treatment, try the following:

  • drink plenty of water or non-sugary fluids like herbal teas
  • avoid stimulants such as coffee or alcohol
  • rest if you can, especially after the first treatment or try to take it a bit easier during the day
  • consider how you can take small actions to positively impact on your health and wellbeing
  • try applying pressure to reflex points on the hand
  • reflect on how you feel following treatment and discuss with me at your next appointment
